WHY TRIDENT

Personal enough to adapt. Structured enough to measure.

Trident is designed so families can understand what their swimmer is working on, why it matters, and what comes next.

01

Small Classes

Up to 3 swimmers for ages 3–5 and up to 4 swimmers for ages 6+.

02

Individualized Teaching

Different swimmers may need different cues, pacing, repetition, or confidence-building.

03

Clear Progression

Families and instructors share a clear understanding of what a swimmer is building now and what comes next.

04

Consistent Communication

Regular feedback and monthly progress updates make growth visible beyond the pool deck.

THE TRIDENT METHOD

Six pillars. One connected swimmer.

The Trident Method organizes instruction around six connected pillars of development. Early swimmers build comfort, breathing control, balance, and safe movement. More advanced swimmers refine technique, efficiency, endurance, starts, turns, and higher-level skills.

HOW ADVANCEMENT WORKS

A clear path forward, without forcing every swimmer into the same pace.

Trident levels provide direction without treating every swimmer the same. Advancement is based on overall readiness, including skill consistency, safety, independence, body control, confidence, participation, and readiness for the next level.

ABOUT TRIDENT

Built by an instructor who has spent years on deck.

Trident Swim Academy was founded by Colby Madden, a Physical Education teacher and longtime aquatics professional with experience in competitive swimming, swim instruction, lifeguarding, lesson management, pool operations, and youth programming.

Trident was built around a simple idea: swimmers make stronger progress when instructors know what they are teaching, know why they are teaching it, and have enough time to teach the swimmer in front of them.

QUICK FAQ

A few things families usually want to know.

What ages does Trident teach?

The indoor launch program is designed primarily for swimmers ages 3 and older. Adult private and semi-private instruction is also available.

What if my swimmer is under age 3?

Trident does not currently plan to begin with regular lessons for swimmers under 3. Families interested in future parent-and-child or early-years programming are encouraged to join the interest list and let us know.

How long are lessons?

Launch lessons are 30 minutes.

Do we need an evaluation before enrolling?

Usually, no. Trident uses family intake information first and may use a brief water check only when a swimmer's ability cannot be described clearly enough for safe placement.

How do I know which level my swimmer needs?

You do not need to know. Tell us what your swimmer can do, what feels difficult, and what you would like them to accomplish. Trident will recommend a starting level.
